Top 5 of January 2016
Starting this Year, and this blog, with my top 5 list of interior and home decoration trends and ideas to try out this month. Some of them are more for the playful ones with a kind of glam factor, some of them are more for the minimalists among you guys.
Either way I wish you a happy new year, fun with my blog and this list. Hope we have a fun and stylish 2016 together.
1. Metallic textures in wetrooms and kitchens
as walls and backsplashes…
… or as tea pots, dishware or fixtures
What I like about metallics is that they bring some glam to your rooms, especially when used in normally unglamorous rooms like kitchens, bathrooms and powder rooms. You can use them in huge sizes as walls backsplashes, tiles and kitchen cabinetry. Or you can just glam it up with just some accents. Just don´t mix different metallics with each other. When you go with a huge display of metallics, keep the rest simple and combine it with quiet colors like white, grey or beige.
2. Green walls
Green isn´t just refreshing your home and fitting every season of the year, it also is glamorous and minimalistic at the same time.
You can pair it with metallics like gold and silver or with pure hues like beige, grey, black, or with some other eyecatching colors like orange, red, yellow or even some blue hues. Maybe you want to ad textures with wood, stone or concrete for a sleek modern style, or you pair it with a fur rug for some sixties atmosphere.
3. basket wear / rattan / thonet
Chudy and Grase

… or all over
Maybe it´s because I´m from Vienna, the city with hundreds of coffee houses and thousands of Thonet chairs, maybe it´s because Bali with it´s woven lamps is on top of my destination wish list, but maybe it´s just because basket material is so gorgeous that I would take it every were in my home, even on my walls. Also it ads a little tropical feeling to your winter homes without overdoing it.
4. Vintage leather sofas
Vintage Leather Sofas and Chill Chairs in warm brown hues are a nice way to add some warm colors to your living room. Imagine all those stories they tell, starting with the one of the animal till the one of the people who had a nice seat on the sofas and chairs before you. My favorite partner for those sofas: persian rugs!
5. Mondrian, Mondrian…. and oh, Mondrian!
Normally I don´t like bold color expression all over a room but with Mondrians impression on walls it´s different. It´s also a great way to set focus on your favorite corners of your room. Just get some tape and wall paint and let the fun begin.
